Found these while going through an old box of stamps belonging to my grandma. Anyone know anything about them? Age, purpose, value?

Backs are blank. About 3”x4”

Those look really cool hope they are valuable

So far it's Wm. A & Alfred Martien, who printed these type of cards in the mid-late 1800's. I believe both William and Alfred were pastors with the Presbyterian church. I did see the Geo. Washington one on line, but not the early Genl. Lee. AH! Only now did I notice that the Lee card was printed by L. Franc? Co Boston

Can you post a link to what you found fir the Washington one?

toorude, not so much a link I think, I simply typed in, Wm. S. & A. Martien, Phila. and a number of things came up on the lap top. I think the other album card is L. Frank, not Franc, L. Frank Boston, is what popped up. The album cards were very popular after the civil war showing Union Generals, and I remember something about not printing Confederate Generals, (The times perhaps) and I'd guess a loophole may have been to print a early picture of "General" Lee while he was a colonel pre-civil war. Just guessing here, but they do seem to be collectable.
