Found earring can't make out the Hallmark; your thoughts?
This earring appears to have an amethyst birthstone in the center and shaped facets in the sterling silver surface. The back is stamped 925 to it's left what appears to be a hallmark of some sort.
The "shaped facets" are probably marcasite (iron pyrite crystal--used in 18thCent jewelery up to present times). Don't know when sterling started to be identified by z'925z'.
The maker's mark is too hard to make out.
This is a recent piece, 1980s or later. The stones are marcasite and amethyst.
Not becht and Hartl. This type of marcasite jewelry is mass produced today in Asia.
I agree marcasite and amethyst. The letters, to me look like NF inside a rectangle. The letters NF would stand for nickel free. Used on many sterling jewelry items in the last 20 years or so because many people have sensitivities to nickel.
