Found Caltrop? Was wondering what these are and when from?

Found these during metal detecting and was wondering what these were and from what time period.
Most Caltrops we've seen are 4 pointed but these are 6 pointed.

Any information would be very nice! Thank you in advance!



Size is 2 Inches in Diameter

Most of the ones I see online are listed as Civil War era, can't speak to whether that is correct or not.

Added: Disregard the above blurb. Apparently as creskol pointed out, by referring to an older post by TheCannonballGuy, they are tumbler media.

So moral here is you can't believe everything you see or read on the internet.
