found by 1830's grist mill. cast plaque

Anyone able to ID this. it is 6 inches across nothing on back, appears to be cast iron. thought it may have been attached to the grist mill building. Any ideas where to start looking.

It looks like half of an antique wood stove fleu or stove door like TT said. Here's 2 on Ebay. If not, it could be a half of a trivet.
