Found button in Germany

I lived in Germany as a kid and this was what I found that got me hooked.any ideas?

yes its to do with the Fire Service

Crusader is correct. Specifically, it is a German/Prussian/Austrian late-1800s/early-1900s Fireman's button. It shows a fireman's helmet from that era, and crossed fireman's axes.

Fireman epaulette or cap button if 17mm diameter, early design. Date around WWI up to 1920. Could be coat button with 24mm diameter.
