Found BIG red and beige rock with crystal pockets, need help

Hello everyone,
I am going to admit up front that, I joined the forum to find out anything I can about this rock. I live about 11 miles from the town of McCormick SC, in the Sumpter National Forest. I find broken and whole arrowheads made from red chert and yellow chert. We have always just called it flint rock. I have never found a flint deposit anywhere around here. Walking my property, I saw the red side out of the ground and noticed that it looks like blanks had been flaked off it. I dug it up so I could put it in a rock border. This rock is weird. First, it weighs approx, 95 pounds. It seems half of it is red flint and the other half beige but, amongst all that, there are pockets of loose clay like dirt and pockets of small white crystals. It's like I interrupted the evolution of this rock.
I hope I can benefit from yalls collective knowledge.

Can you post a picture of the rock with a scale of some kind (ruler, quarter, etc.). The scale will give an idea of how large the rock is. Also, pics of the crystals would be interesting.

I took the pics with my phone, hopefully yall can zoom in on them, it is a handsome rock..
In the first pic, it looks like there was blanks knocked off of it in years past. That is the part that was exposed, when I found it.
It is weather worn smooth and a dark deep red.

I took a pic with the toe of my boot on it and will post a pic with a tape measure tomorrow.
Its about 2 feet long and about 1 foot thick at the widest. Its about 15 inches tall.

Looks very much like the dolostone in Upstate NY where quartz crystals called "Herkiner Diamonds" or "Little Falls Diamonds" are found.

Welcome to Tnet. I can't help much on the rock but to say it looks like a big chunk of chert. You are lucky enough to live in an area (McCormick) where you can find anything, Native American artifacts, gold(usually in quartz) minerals etc. Cyrus McCormick owned a gold mine there. There is an ancient chert mine not far away. We camp at Hawe Creek. I found a large quartz rock with a gold vein in it and always come home with a few points.

I live between 2 large creeks than empty into the Savannah river, about 4 miles from me. I am always finding broken and whole points, scrapers etc but, they are usually 80% white quartz. In the woods behind me, we have quartz rocks everywhere. We have a lot of quartz rock on my property and as, Tony in SC said, there was a gold mine about 11 miles from us. I am going to try and get some pics of the yellow looking Crystal's in one of the holes. They remind me of sulfur. I chipped off a piece that was crumbly, it was like compressed iron ore with sand it it. I crushed it and panned it and found 3 little flakes of gold. My wife isnt going to let me destroy this boulder. I have to agree with her, in that it is unique.

This is the same hole dry. There are 2 open holes like this one, and many holes the size of a pencil that I can see the crystals in with a flashlight, at just the right angle. Is it possible that this is a geode? If not, do tall think it has scientific value?

This is the piece I knocked off and crushed. I got a palm full of red sandy material and planned it. There was 3 little flakes of gold. They were more like specks. That was probably the 3rd time I ever planned so, no telling what I missed. Looking from the outside, the boulder is made up of about 10% this material.

Strange but great find! Looks like some kinda large geode. Try posting over on the rocks/gems forum. Those guys know a thing or two.
