Found beside a 300 yearold house

Just got my MD today, was so excited to put it to use. Found this beside a 300 year old house. I'm guessing it is some kind of farming tool or something... Found a few square nails near by as well so I'm thinking 100-150 years old. But I'm far from experienced enough to know better.

Does any one have a remote clue? It's cool to find some old things on my first day! Sooo hooked!
