found at the coin store "junk bin" * 1864 2 cent piece with 180 degree revesed back

its date has been worn off but it is clearly one of the few 1864 "180 "degree reversed back screw ups when they first started making the "new" 2 cent coins -- someone did not know that the dies were to be placed so that the coins faces would be "opposite" of each other and put the die in so that both sides were facing up --resulting in a "medal strike" type coin if you hold it face up and spin it in your hand the coin will be the same way( facing upwards) on both sides front and rear --where the rear side SHOULD be "upside down" --needless to say this is a major error coin and should have never been allowed to leave the mint * plus its a "civil war" coin to boot not bad for $5 scan0001.jpgscan0002.jpg
