Found at old homesite

This relic is made of iron. It is 3 I/2 inches by 3 3/4 inches and says (The Ideal / Trousers Rack / Trade Mark) at the top and at the bottom (Patent 57189) any information on it would be appreciated. Thanks.

I think originally, that had four or 5 pivoting arms that attached to it by which one could hang their trousers. Circa 1920 I think.

Oh my gosh, good eyes Tim, it IS 457189. I thought the 4 was a rust spot

1891 patent date...would be good to find a picture of what the whole thing looked like.
