Found at local SC yard sale ... didn't even have to get dirty this time!

I came across these items in a box of junk at a yard sale. A nice Hardee (Jefferson Davis) hat pin and Two bullion patches. Some folks tell me that the star patch is a CS Medical Corp Major. Not sure about that or the shield. Can anyone shine some light? Also, are they 18k gold wire?

Thanks in advance?

Good looking hat pin; sometimes referred to as a Hardee (the designor) hat pin. C. 1850-60s. Several for sale on line at about $200.

One thing that concerns me about the Hardee pin is the attachment wire. I may be wrong, but it just appears to be more stout that the ones the original pins had. Maybe it was replaced or something, but either way it's a cool yard sale find for sure!

Thanks, I will have to research that. I appreciate your input.

I doubt the patches are gold wire. Usually just really nice thread.

I dont suppose these are reproductions?

I can tell you first hand I use to live near Fort Jackson, La which is where the Civil War battle to control the Mississippi was fought in 1863 I believe, the reenactments would have all sorts of tents, these tents would display artifacts, but they would sell a good many of the reproduction items also, you name it you could buy it, including buttons.
