Found at fort built in early 1700's

It appears to be citrine. And 10+ karats too, big stone. But what for of jewlery is it?

probably part of a brooch or hat adornment. Rather than a genuine citrine, it is most likely colored glass. I would date it to around 1900-1910 based on construction and color of the stone. (for some reason that color seemed to have been very popular at that time period)

Going to have to agree with this guy here (who I don't know, but by his name guessing he knows a lot more than me on this topic), if what you meant to say was "10 carat" citrine rather than "10k" gold. My reason is, as far as I know, a 10 carat citrine would command a modern price of at least a few hundred dollars-ish. It would qualify as a decent citrine for sure, and so I would expect the setting to be a better material/construction, if that were the case.

Just my opinion. Not knocking the find by the way -- way cooler than the garbage I find. Hopefully I'm wrong and you found a sweet rock.
