Found at civil war site. Need help please...

I found these at the Battle of Athens battle site. The knife looking item was over 12 inches deep. It measures 9 inches long, but looks like it use to be longer. The button item was 6 inches deep and is about 1 1/8 inches. It is lead filled on the back.

My first thought is a Mississippi Confederate button.

I agree- it's gotta be a rosette. I thought "Texas" at first glance.

Could prove to be a very nice find indeed. (i.e., a valuable find... it's nice, regardless).
