Found at a 1600 cellar hole

My friend George stop by the shop and dropped off his find. He found this possible brooch at a 1600 cellar hole.

I think it might just be a decorative ornament. Does it have any evidence of where hooks may have been attached on the back? I've dug similar ones in the past as well as one a couple weeks ago that doesn't have the same shape, but appears to have the same function. Cool find!

My guess is that it is something of furniture. Is it sheet metal or solid?
