I was MDing an 18th century mansion grounds today and did not find anything exciting but dug what appears to be some type of an old music box part as there are different size graduated channels to control something. In any case, it also appears to have electrical trigger points once welded to this which certainly would rule out 18th century.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

I concur. Internal part of a harmonica. I have found many, usually only in pieces, where the civil war troops hung out.

You guys are great, I appreciate all the responses here. Since learning what this belongs to, it appears to be the "Draw Reed" part of the harmonica that controls the notes when you inhale. This is real interesting stuff. I just wish there was some way to date this piece.

Again thanks everyone!

Yours also could of been a "slide" harmonica . It has 10 sets of double reeds . The slide bar would of let the player get "extra" notes . Here is a similar one -
