Nice finds TSG! No telling what you will find there, I guess it's all about the history of the site, battle field, garrison or a make shift camp. HH and look forward to your finds, Mike

Very nice, WTG!!!
You keep going the way your going and you'll have enough lead to start your own war... ;D
Good luck & Happy hunting~

You sure do come up with some great finds. Congrats on your hunts. I hoping one day to get out to Hanging Dog Creek on the Hiwassee Lake. Supposed to the last battle of the Civil War. Just been so busy and the weather been raining.

Huntin' 59er

Thanks to everyone, I was in quite the hurry when I posted this earlier! my hunting bud John deserves all the credit on this find. He was following a few clues from a CW soldiers journal. We were just guessing we were in the place he was describing back in 1862! We received permission from the land owner and got started. I turned on my XLT and walked about 10 paces when I got a familiar signal, I dug about 5 inches and removed a nice round ball. We felt like we were close to another big camp. As it turned out it was only a small camp, but we had a great time. I dug my first Federal overcoat button! they are almost as big around as a quarter, it had a small dent in the center but still had the loop on back and some gilt left on it. Here are some more pics. Nice Find tsgman... those are some nice musket balls with the 3 ringers ..what caliber are they? Goood luck on your next hunt! Seeker

Seeker, the larger ones are 69 caliber. When you get a signal from one of those you know it!

You did good gman!!!!!

;)

Art, you and Trk5capt are great! Hey did you see the Missouri Tigers play the Gamecocks today? What a great game! at least the 2nd half. The Tigers pulled it out 38-31 after they were down 28-7 in the 1st half.
