Found an old bottle...................

Came across this bottle, and looked in the books we have in the shop and cannot find anything about this bottle. Does any anyone here know anything about this cool bottle. Looks to be pre 1880. It is shaped like a women's lace up boot, and is 31/4" tall and 2" wide at the foot end. We are hoping someone here has seen this type of bottle before, and can tell us something about it.

Nice little bottle. Here's it's "big" brother- 1890's 4 3/8 Inch Figural Boot Clear Cologne by theoldbottleshop note- this one appears to have an embossed design at the top. Is that an etched designe I see on yours in the same area?


I saw one listed as an ink bottle (slightly different shape) but I don't know how accurate that is. Rare 1800's Figural Boot Shaped Ink Bottle / Ink Wel (04/03/2009)...

May be a perfume But I think more likely a candy container. Not a miniature whisky I dont belive

This bottle was designed and patented by Daniel R. Bradley of New York City in July of 1885. It is described in patent papers as a "perfumery bottle, consisting of a lady's boot . . . mounted on a base or stand having the figure of a roller-skate." The bottle had a metal stopper and metal roller-skate which is often missing in surviving bottles.
