Well, this was a big surprise! I have started demo on my basement to make it actual livable space. Today i was removing the 1970's paneling that covers the stairwell and foyer. I was shocked to see most of a car engine and a few misc clutch parts. I had hopes it might be a Boss 302 or some other rare engine with value, but soon realized it's just a V6. :sadsmiley:

I was going to offer it to any of my local friends that may want it, but since it's probably worth no more than scrap, it's likely going to stay right where it is when when I do the drywall. :laughing7:

That would be a surprise to find it hidden behind the paneling.

v6 is probably a 4.3L GM any casting numbers or casting info

probably worth no more than scrap if it is the first gen 4.3. as the second gen had a balance shaft in between the crankshaft and cam shaft.

looks like a V8 from the pic how many connecting rods do you see?

if not sure post another pic from above it

Careful selling that, your house may float away!

I was wrong. It's a V8. I'll post some additional pics shortly. I don't see the heads anywhere under there.

Additional pics added

It might have some value, might be a desirable block for a rebuilt, google h21 010 020 509 block and read some of the links, one tells where to find more info on it. When I say desirable, I'd think $200-$400 block, but I could be wrong.

There is a smooth stamping block on the top should tell more looks like a mopar BB

2 bolt main small block chevy V8 Casting numbers will tell you the bore. It for sure is not a small block 400 but it could be anything from a 283 to a 350 CI roll that thing over and from the front on the top of the left cylinder bank there should be a series of numbers that you can research. Also the block casting numbers will tell you what CI and year it was built. More pics!

I am guessing Chevy, I don't remember seeing a Mopar with the oil filter mounting in that location. My Corvette has a similar looking position which leads me to believe it is a GM block. My Fords are situated differently also. I will agree with tdrking.

Dont you wish that was worth the equivalent weight in gold bars behind that wall ? Interesting find !

look above the bell housing bolts on the drivers side and post the raised casting numbers and I will tell you what it is.

Definitely small block Chevy. 2 bolt mains and cast crank. Unless the casting number is for something rare, they're a dime a dozen.

Agree. But still a good start for a nice table in the man cave.
This is one a buddy built for his living room

Thanks for the info guys. I'll try to get more pics, but it's hard to get at and move in it's current location.

Also, why is this not up top yet? It should be banner just on the weight alone? :laughing7:
