Granted it was a small hotwheels type one.
Being that today was quite windy I figured I would get a good chance to try out one of a local beach/park without people all over the place like there usually is.
Took my kids with to let them run off some energy and let my wife rest (she had a bit of a hangover for the neighbor's cinco de mayo party last night).
When I got there my suspicions were confirmed and there were only a few people at the park. Though a handful of brave high schoolers showed up and decided to go swimming (water is still pretty cold in Minnesota).
After a few hours of detecting with a few small breaks to push my daughter on the swing, etc. I ended up with 23 coins (4 roosies, 1 nickel, 18 memorial pennies), 1 airplane, 1 frog trinket, a handful of nails, 1/2 of a pair of sunglasses, about a dozen pop tabs (though I could have had a lot more if I had wanted to dig them), and some other misc trash.
Another interesting tidbit from the trip:
When we first got there, a couple of high school kids asked if I could help them find some type of brow ring that they had lost in the grass. They had apparently been talking about trying to figure out where to get a metal detector when I showed up.
As I was about to start looking I asked if he had another one so I could see how it would register. So he took off another apparently similar one, I tried the detector, and no signal. Oh well, he had offered $5 to find it, but since the detector didn't register it, figured it wasn't worth my time. At least I saved them the trouble of finding a metal detector only to learn that it wouldn't help them anyway.
