Found a very heavy item made out of some kind of natural stone I' m guessing. Help needed please!

Hi everyone!

I am wondering if anyone here may happen to know what this stone type material is. It is a lamp I found.
I cannot find a google image search to match it for identification. Thank you so much in advance for any clues, insight or information offered! I am clueless.

? I think I know what you mean about lead weighted. My Grandma gave me sterling silver candle holders which had a heavily- weighted base underneath the silver bottom.
This lamp has a regular wood base though. ?? Which makes me think the weight is actually coming from whatever material the curvy engraved scroll/ flowery carved -with- darkened *something* lamp body IS. Whatever, it is. The contrasting two- tone color is perplexing as if the upper body is some material, and bottom, another, unless dyed. Which leads to... if *that is so, which organic rocks can be dyed like that?

Just asking.

Looks like Mexican onyx to me.
