Nice find! :occasion14:

Nice find, especially from your own place. I almost dropped over when we found some old stuff at my house. Your button is a civilian type from the first three or four decades of the 19th century. Before 1800, buttons as a rule were not backmarked.

from about 1820 to 1850 ish era -- the puff terms --used on it --gilt is a layer of goldish colored dip type coating placed upon them-- treble is triple in british terms -- note the u --in orange colour --again spelt the british way -- its earlty to mid 1800 time frame british imported "flat button" which most likely had no design on the front --some did however --but it was not common --most were simple flat fronted buttons

I appreciate the information. This was definitely the best find of my day. I'm uploading an image of the front for viewing, though there is not much to see.

plain fronted flat button like I said --early to mid 1800 era british

Today I made a walk around a corner of my yard with my detector and got a pretty solid hit, resulting in me finding a button which reads Treble Gilt, Orange Colour, and Warranted. The front has been rubbed off so I haven't attached an image. Is there anyone who could give me information on my finding?

I noticed this was your very first post - so, Welcome Aboard Caboose1132! You didn't list your state (or country) in your profile. So, you might consider jumping over to Sub-Forums: Select Your Area.... and selecting location information (i.e., clubs, hunts, finds, legends, maps, etc.) directly related to your state (or country). You might also consider adding your state (or country) to your displayed profile (SETTINGS -> EDIT PROFILE) so if you ask a question, etc. - people may have more success helping you (your location may help, etc.)...

My apologies, the button was found in Sandston, Virginia. We live off Old Williamsburg rd. Thank you for the heads up about the profile. Didn't even think about it when posting.
