Do you encounter many shell middens in your areas? Great pictures and nice finds.

Not many......................
I call them hearths .....................I dont find bone or shell
That one was no older then 2000 years.....................
I have found a Preform Axe with use wear in one,and a Grinding bowl..........nearby that area
I find them at Construction sites also.....................
Last year........1-9-09 I found this one exposed in a Creek bed...............this could be part of a big one.....The Creek got wet in Feb then froze/thaw making the bank cave in on its self, then water came up and filled in with branches...............
I do have the place marked......

All interesting. My banks can be over twenty feet high. In those banks you will see distinct strata or lines of occupation dating from upper european contact down to to pre Paleo. The paleo line will usually have a foot of seperation emerging back up into the dalton and kirk habitation upwards. I liken it to a book with pages and chapters. Of course when they, the banks collapse in context is lost and you have many types at a single layer exposed.
If the water goes down here,,,, I will hit the upper water shed by shallow running duck boat sunday if its not raining to bad.
Enjoy your post and observations in your hunts. Collective knowledge in similiar situations is always appreciated.
Stay safe
