I have asked to speak to the "vault teller" a few times and found out that banks have secrets.

In Chase, the customer (at least an unknown customer) is not to know who the vault teller is, and how much coin is in the bank.

So then we have to go through this little ordering ritual that goes like this:

"Would I be able to order some boxes of half-dollars or dimes through the bank?"

--"I'm not sure. I would have to ask ......... " "......... are we able to order half dollar boxes? We can't do that can we? We can? O, I better let her talk to you."
(The vault teller comes to the front.)

Or the coin buying ritual:

"Do you have any rolls of half dollars or dimes that I could buy? (Always say "buy" to avoid being confused with bank robbers.)

"er...we don't....have any rolls of half dollars. How many rolls of dimes would you like?" (Do not say "all you got". They won't tell you how many they "got".)

"Well, I would like to buy several hundred dollars worth...and if you have a lot of dimes, I can buy a LOT."

"Three or four hundred dollars worth......"

"I have $1500."

"Well we don't have that many...but how about $600.00 ?"

It's taken me a few weeks to learn the language.
