Hey

I was in my car today lookin at my change and found a nice and shiny penny. As I was collecting the change to buy a soda, this penny fell onto the ground. .....I looked down in surprise to see the wheats on the back.

The funny thing is that I have been wanting to find a wheat cent in the ground!!
Then, it just turns up from circulation!!! Too funny...Maybe it aint worth much, but i figure hey atleast it is in nice condition.

Has anyone experienced this?

I found a 1917 wheat in my change yesterday as a matter of fact. I find a majority of my wheats this way. I would prefer to dig them up, but I'll take 'em any way I can.

A couple of years ago I was getting a good bit of wheat's in my pocket change.(my good bit is around 20 a year) Now I haven't seen any in a while. I guess people are keeping them for sets. But I always check my change when I get home. Good luck on finding more and HH.

There never was a reason to collect them before. Now, copper is going up and the Wheats are 95% copper compared to the 2.5% in the cents of today. (1982- present)

Last week my wife and I went out to dinner. To pay the check, which ended in $??.?1, my wife throws down a 1955 wheat. I just glared at her. She had to put another down as I picked up her mistake. ;D

Guys

It was so funny beacause i had been praying to find a wheat with my detector and one day It lands in my lap.

THEY ARE STILL OUT THERE!!
I know this because I was able to rescue a whole coffee can full.I had a garage sale a few years ago,and a neighbor happened by.she noticed me scanning through change the sale had brought in.I explained that I was looking for wheats and silver dimes, etc.Without comment, she leaves, sending her husband over about 15 minutes later, with an old folgers can 75%full of wheats from1909 on up.He explained that they were destined for the bank. Of course,we all know the look that was on my face! After sweeping my jaw off the garage floor, I ended up with the can,and months worth of fun.
Just think of all the coffee cans out there yet to be discovered!
good luck finding your can!

Been a while.

I'm old enough that I remember pulling Mercury dimes and silver quarters out of pocket change, and occasionally a Buffalo nickel.

My brother did yardwork in the '60's for a woman who would occasionally pay him with a Morgan or Peace dollar.

You guys are fueling the fire now...If I could only find those wheats, mercs, indians, morgans, easgles, standing, and seated liberty....

I need to do some more research...Got any old maps of fleming island??

take all your pennies and toss them in a jar
when the jar gets full
sort them out youll be able to get able least 20-30 wheats

I have found Wheats in my change, I got 2 at 2 separate coffee shops last month.

I have found them in my penny jar.

I have found many while searching coin rolls.

I have dug them up while metal detecting.

I even eyeballed a couple of them laying on the surface of an eroded hill while metal detecting.

I love them Wheaties, too bad they will all be vanishing soon with the jump in copper prices.

Get 'em while you can boyz.

I know where there is a milk can half full of wheat cents. The older man that has the can will not part with them.
He has my # so I am praying....... I have made a rather nice offer for them...
