I've had my eye on this old, empty lot which dates to the thirties where I knew a house or two had once been and decided to give it a quick try today. Glad I did as it looks to potentially produce some silver. After poking around for about an hour trying to figure out where the front or back yard used to be, I began to come across a few good finds. The first was a '44 wheatie (not pictured), and where there's one you know there's usually more. So I gridded off a 20x20 area before it got too late and came up with a 1917D wheatie and an old compact hit by a tractor's disc that, unfortunately, didn't have any coins in it. I also got a first–an old Kodak film cannister. Not sure just how old but I'm pretty ticked off that the tractor disc mangled it almost beyond recognition! The last pic is of some sort of plate wtih a lot of old patent dates, which was found at another site yesterday that also needs more detecting work. Can't quite make out the company name yet. Time to go buy myself a magnifying glass.

Thanks folks.

Went back today for another hour. Went over the 20x20 area with the 12x10 coil but nothing additional came out of the ground. I kept thinking, man, that stock 8" coil doesn't miss much!

So, I extended myself 10' in every direction of the area I detected and came up with a couple more neat finds. The first was a 1953s wheatie (not pictured). Next, my first old Banning dog tax tag, dated 1947! That got me jazzed. Then, a toy lead soldier who seems to have been severely wounded in play battle. And finally, what appears to be some sort of nicely decorated cap of some sort. It appears that it could slide over something to cover it, like the tip of a blade or letter opener. Not really sure.

No silver yet but I'm sure there has to be some there somewhere, just gotta keep searching. While I was gridding the area a young lady came up to me and introduced herself, and said she saw me metal detecting and asked if I could search for her mother's ring. Apparently, she lives next door to the lot and one day her mother got mad at the dad and threw the ring at him. Needless to say, it landed in the lot somewhere, which has been disced three times since the event occurred. So that's what I'll be searching for tomorrow.

I'll keep ya'll tuned in if I get anything more interesting out of this old lot.

Looks like you've got a good spot to hunt with a lot of nice potential ... good luck finding the lost ring next door and hope your new spot turns out great for you ~ Jimmy

Really nice variety of finds. . . I like that old old Kodak film can, haven't seen one of those in a long time.
That scabbard tip looking thing might be from the strap end from an old belt.

Hope you find that lady's ring next time out :)

The last pic looks like the end cap off a scabbard/sheath of some sort maybe from a dagger

Actually, I think it came off the end of a leather strap, I've found a few of them in lumber camps in Wi.

Yep...always good to scout. I'm stuck indoors, but doing research. Already got written okays to hunt a high school, a athletic complex and a old church built in 1700s. Went to City Hall and was given 1700-1800 map of my area. I'm talking with a friend in the Police Dept I hunt with every now and again.

I can't wait...Bounty Hunter Tracker 4 on the way to my front door

NICE FINDS KEPT LOOKING YOU WILL FIND MORE. GOOD LUCK

You have some great potential in the Buemont / Banning area especially in the badland hills due east of Moreno Valley.

There are a number of spots in the Timoteo Canyon area especially near the old historic school...the intercontential railroad runs parallel...should be some old RR workers camps in the vicinity.

Lot of old ranch houses and barns that could be interesting...

Don't go alone...and should be armed...a lot of young 2 year old lions will be on their own soon

The rattlers will be coming out soon...

Cool looking relic's Ray....Coin's will be in the next post right ;) Good Luck and HH!!

nice finds, that site definitely holds some potential. get back there!!
