I tried a new area about a mile from the main battle field that myself and some friends have been hunting. I am pretty sure that this area has not been hunted! ;D I found a lot of minnies in a fairly close proximity. I found a nice buckle and a few other odds and ends. If any body can ID any of this stuff that would be great. I found three natzi coins but somehow lost two of them and a small flat button. ??? I laid my bag down to chop some roots and they must have slipped out of the pocket. I am just glad that they were fairly common finds but it still hurt. :'( I also found two cannonball pieces but they were to big for the scanner. I have about 5 and a half months left over here and it is going by fast. I still have plenty of finds on my wish list so I better keep hunting.LOL Hope all is well and happy hunting.

Nice finds Bman! I found a little deer just like yours about two weeks ago, they are souveniours and usually are mounted on the marching canes for volksmarching. The other item is a watch winder. The long pointy thing looks like a bolt tip for a cross bow. HH, Mike

They are already harvesting here, some of the fields have also been harvested and planted, will try to find a field and permission after work today but it's a hot one! HH, Mike

Nice finds. Any chance youfound a skirmish line there? Or maybe a camp.

Mike, thanks for the IDs . The deer has Freiburg printed on it .I guess that was one of the stops. Aguila, it may have been some type of skirmish line. Lots of musket balls close together .As I hunted further away from the area I only found dropped minnies. It makes you wonder. The area is hilly and wooded but it may have been more open back during the battle.Piecing the story together is half the fun. :) The battle lasted two and a half days and was pretty intense. Both sides gained and lost ground but the Prussians beat the French mainly because the French started the battle before they had their cannon in place. ???

Heh..for some reason the notion that an MD'er would lose some coins seems funny to me!
;D

I hope you find the ones you lost, or find something to take your breath away and make you forget about them!

Go back and refind those coins Bird! Great finds as usual!

;)

Nice hunt, bird. Too bad about the lost coins.

That buckle looks like a shoe buckle....it looks curved like one that I found. 8)

Nice finds Birdman.

Those big musket balls are fun to find. I can't find that many here. But the few times I found some large one's it was fun finding them.

There the best when not shot either.

Hopefully you'll get back and find more

Mona lisa this is a good site that PBK sent me for old buckles. :) It is very helpful.

WoW just doesn't seem to fit your posts anymore. It's like, everytime I see you up here I'm wondering if I'm going to read that you dug this mega cache of WWII gold or diamonds.

Dig hard and deep ;D

Great finds!
