well i wanted to find a place that know one has hunted before well i think i found one these were all found at this sight . can some one tell me what cal are the small bullets .the top i think is a heal plate off of a boot the rest are bullets this place is not really that big it might have been an out post that watched over the main road all i have found so far are the bullets it might have been a small skirmish at this spot also well we see in a few days what more i find bjb

well went back to the sight and it seems it must have been a small skirmish here only bullets have been found did find a 1954 D quarter probably lost by a hunter . did find something interesting a old telphone line or telegraph line most of it was in the ground but it would come out of the ground and be attached to a tree there would be these glass insulators nailed to the trees it has two lines to it and about every 500 feet it would have them. some one got most of them but did manage to follow it and find me three the line is some kind of steel line not copper. one day i will follow the line but it has to be miles long and probably hooked up with the next old town down the road . bjb

Re: found a new civil war sight

Well, I see dropped and fired bullets.........would seem to indicate at least a skirmish. I don't think pickets were supposed to be target practicing.

You definately are on to something. Hunt it good, and post your finds here.

Good luck

Roger

Re: found a new civil war sight

Measure the diameter of the bases of the bullets and you get the approximate caliber in inchkes, ie: .429 to .445 = .44 caliber. Monty

The top item is a toe plate off of a boot or shoe . I have found several of these . I wasn't sure what they were until someone told me . They are suppose to have a date stamped on the front of them but mine are so worn that I couldn't see it .
