We were at an old house ,circa 1890's that was later turned onto a home for girls and boys and then later all boys and still is on operation.we found a 1950 Wheatie,a part to an old oil lamp,an odd piece of heavy circular lead that I might post another day,and other odd bits. The button was our first hit and its really pretty and looks like there may be Roman symbols on it.Hope someone can help.the back is very rusty.

Anyhoo take a look see

Specifically, your button shows the emblem of the Royal Black Heath Golf Club, in Scotland. If I recall correctly, the lettering around it is Gaelic. That emblem has been copied many times (some with better detail, some with weak detail) in repetitive manufacturing of that popular Golfing-Jacket button. Yours is from the mid-to-late 20th-Century.

Thanks Cannonball Guy.
