Wow IP, you are quick. I wonder how old it is, I found a pocket watch (the remains) with 1884 engraved on it about 20 feet away...

It seems to still be a current item so I guess you'd have to find out how long ago they started making fobs like that, then guess according to what you found with it.

Well it looks like the one I found is vintage and not the reproduction one like on Buffalo's site. From what I can tell maybe early 1900s which matches up somewhat to the pocket watch I found. I bet that guy wasnt happy that day.

Thanks!

Yes, I'd say you're exactly right and a pocket watch close would pretty much seal it.

While looking through fobs I actually came across one I've found. First time seeing another the same. (though I've never looked for one)

I really like the ones that you can connect to a company, but any old fob is a cool find because they don't turn up often. About 8 years ago my friend dug a very nice one from a fur company in Chicago. Sold it for over $100. I have found three to date, and a cool locket that I think was probably also worn on a watch chain. Almost every site I hunt now predates them so it has been years since I've seen such a thing in the dirt. I did have a random pocket watch find a couple years back but no fob.

I just happened to be one of the first to read the post. For all who knew it was a watch fob, and there would be many, it's easy to find. Literally just seconds to find the same design on Google.

I found one just like it , i thought it was a medal too until now , i have found 40+ coins on this spot and they all range from 1901-1927, this is an isolated dump site i've been hunting, kinda like a time capsule, nothing earlier, nothing later,i don't know where these dirt piles came from but i know when, hope this helps narrow down the date for ya.
