Found a Love Token

I was md'ing mom's yard in Holly Springs, MS on a hillside. Found these 2 bullets and 1853 half dime love token in the same hole. I'm guessing the soldier sat on the hillside and lost these items from his pocket. I added the chain and gave it to my wife, the love lives on!! I'm thinking these were a Union soldier's items as a Confederate would value a 1/2 dime too much to wear it??

I believe some people put holes in the coins so they could put them on a rope to not lose it. Regardless nice find! A little character in that one.
