It was 17 degrees this AM, but we hit the field anyway. Late in the afternoon it started snowing heavily & it was kind of bad going home!
Was in the field twice as long as the last two times, but the finds were harder & fewer....I guess some days are like that!!
The two pieces on each side of the arrow point are broken trade rings. The triangle with the design must have gotten lost before the suspension hole got pierced.
Also found a pile of kettle brass scraps & several musketballs.
Won't be hunting for a while because we got several inches of snow.

This is incredible. I would love to find artifacts like these.

Interesting finds. What are the rolled up pieces of metal? Pardon my ignorance. Monty

Monty, They are called "tinklers". The Indians would make them out of discarded kettles (and sheet brass they got from the Fur Traders) & cover their clothes with row after row of them.....hence the name "tinkler" for the sound they made as they walked around.

I figured it was something like that but wasn't sure. I'm nearly half Cherokee and one dumb Injun I guess? Thanks! Monty
