The wife and I went out yesterday to my spot to see if we'd have any luck. It wasn't too bad....but lots of walking!

The Lookingbill I found measures 2"...... I thought for sure the tip was still intact under the sand....not so much though. I'm still happy with it though. Very well made and an obvious bone impact fracture to the tip.

The small complete Late-Archaic point has a small remnant of an impact fracture but was repaired in ancient times.

My wife scored a couple smaller Middle Archaic points that were complete as well but I haven't had a chance to get pictures of them yet. One is a Duncan-Hanna and the other is what looks to be a reworked Pelican Lake. We also found a bunch of broken stuff as well but I didnt bother taking pictures of it. 20190908_164016.jpg20190908_195830.jpg20190908_195707.jpg20190909_083239.jpg20190909_083354.jpg20190909_083304.jpg20190908_195805.jpg20190909_084652.jpg20190909_084714.jpg

Great stuff.

Missing tip or not, that's a lovely thing.

Little dark one is fine too.

Is there a picture of the reverse side of that crusty scraper?

Spectacular stuff, as always!

Sweet! I had you pegged in Montana! You're in a great location for this hobby! Thanks for telling me and others here. We'll all remember it better if you slip your location in your profile info.
I live in Minot which is pretty close to the center of the state but I grew up and work out in New Town, west of Minot about 70 miles. There are tons of artifacts out that way. Our family company does a lot of work out in the oilfield.....I'm mainly a fence builder and Bobcat operator.

Thanks man! I love Lookingbill points so it was a treat to find, broken or not! Here is a picture of the under side of that flake tool or scraper or whatever it is.20190910_075344.jpg

May not be but that looks like a flute channel flake from this angle!
Nah.....it's just a large waste flake. The white stuff on the top side of it is the outer cortex from the Knife River Flint nodule / block it was taken off of. My guess is that it's early to mid Archaic in age.....that's the type of points I've found around it.
