Found a Hammer

Found this Percussion Hammer yesterday morning. Im thinking from a Merrill Carbine as other gun parts that seem to also come from a Merrill have been found close by. I have cleaned off all the rust that I dare.
Experts please chime in as to whether this is true or not.

I don't think so, it's too narrow. Positively IDing it will be quite a challenge, there are just too many possibilities. Great find, whatever it's from.

Looks like a flint lock hammer to me.

it is diffently from a percussion firearm. The cap cup is plainly visible, and it has been broke off from where it was attached to the frame. sorry phone pic
