Unfortunately, it's in real bad shape. But that brings the total number of mid-1700s to early 1800s coins found at this one little spot to 18 with half of them being silver. I'm going to keep hitting this field until its planted not only for the coins, but also for the tremendous amount of buttons that it's produced. By my last count that was up to around 170 + at least 50 others friends have dug there. The funny part about all this is that the farmer told me I wouldn't find anything in that field. How many times have we been told that??

not gonna find anything there :laughing7: nice totals for that one site for sure :icon_thumleft:

Sweet treasure :icon_thumright:

Very nice haul!!! :headbang: :headbang:

It's condition would only have gotten worse if you were not out there rescuing history from the elements..... All I found today was a zincoln and a .22 or .25 cal slug out in the middle of nowhere. They both sang like pure gold.... nice and clear, had me hoping.

Bill, That coin spill is an interesting snapshot of what coinage was circulating around 1830.

Great group of coins you got there! How long have you been hunting that site? If I'm correct, looks like you've got three 2 Reales there. I found my first 2 Reale the other day, but it's totally worn smooth with no markings.

Been hunting it since last fall. I ran across the coin spill by chance when walking through a remote part of the field a good distance away from where the buttons were found. And yes, those are 2 reales. One of mine is practically slick as well. Actually, I can only get a date off one of them. That's OK, though - silver is silver. Congrats on your spanish silver find too.

I bet your detecting buddies secretly hate you.
I know mine would!
Carl,
who just had to go back and look at all these finds one more time.

ah the "you won't find anything there" :laughing7: I've heard that a 100 times!
awesome coinage dude!

You must have a great spot, that many buttons and all the coins and sliver on top of that , that would be my dream come true, CONGRATS :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:
