Over the years I have found quite a few of these, always in the same lake.

We just found this one today.

Seems at one time I thought I knew what it was but cant recall now....is it from inside a padlock???

Any ideas? I think it is brass.

Thanks

These have been IDed on here before but my brain is too full to remember exactly what they are. They seem to have something to do a specialized printing process. Somebody will come along with a link to the old thread...

Thanks Guys, I've been finding these on and off for 25 years in the shallows of a local lake :icon_scratch:

Looks like a type piece from and old Linotype machine?

Right you are!!!!!

Why so many are in a lake is another mystery??? Perhaps used in groups as duck decoy anchors?? Who knows??

Fish get smart as to what a fishing weight looks like so maybe someone was using those as weights,I have seen old spark plugs used as weights to fool the fish.
