Went back where I found the flying eagle yesterday and the CZ and I went for a walk. No luck on the twin brother of the eagle. I did manage 50 coins, face value $2.86, an assortment of modern bullets, 2 keys, a toasted St Joseph medallion, a large heavy brass belt buckle with an iron tongue, and a nice little ring. The ring is only plated copper, but it looks nice.
I really know very little about buckles. My guess is that this one was made sometime in the 20th century, but that is as close as I can come. If anyone can give me more info I would appreciate it. I know it is not a great find, but I am curious. I did find the 1858 flying eagle on one end of the field and about 70 yards away I found the 1722 Woods Hibernia half penny about a year ago. So the buckel could be older than I think. I just need someone with more buckle know how to chime in.
Thanks for looking and may your coil lead you to good things.
