I occasionally relate finds from my own property. Today, I discovered and old 8" curb well that had been covered with a piece on metal and some large rocks. It was all about a food under ground. I've have to say that is the first time that I'm found a well with my detector! I dropped a light on a string down it and measured it out to 25'. However, the water table must be lower than it used to be because the well is pretty dry.

Sometime when a well dried up they threw their garbage in the hole. Might find some old bottles down there!

I would have expected that but I lowered a light down the hole and it is clear to 25'. I think water sand and minor debris are all there is in the bottom. I'm wondering if I can turn it into a usable well by augering it out deeper.

I bet there is a coin or two down there!
