Found a coin at my grandpaws house

Assuming it is US and a Morgan Dollar.

1889 Morgan Silver Dollar Value | Discover Their Worth

Look on the back under the eagle's tail for letters - if they are CC don't clean or handle the coin any more than you have to. The above link has approximate values. Dealers will give you about half that and then sell for a little below that value.

Going by Ebay "sold" auction results for an 1889CC in that condition you are in the neighborhood of $1000 + or - I would suggest having it professionally graded & slabbed. A coin dealer can help you get that done.

Is there a way I could find out if it was real without sending it in wouldn't that cost money?

im not sure why there is a peice of paper with the cert # 26180690
with that coin, im thinking if it is #26180690, it would still be in the
cert slab, and have docs for the auction with it, look see if more docs
maybe he was planning to have it graded and auctioned, an was just
checking stuff out
still a really nice coin, as suggested get it professionally graded & slabbed

i plugged in that cert # 26180690 here PCGS Cert Verification

Are your grandparents still alive? Does the coin belong to them?

I was thinking the same thing!
How, and under what circumstances, did you "FIND" the coin?

Are you going through his estate? Or are you helping to convert his valuables to usable cash?
It looks like he was a collector. Does he have other valuable coins?

You need to talk to a specialist to get the most for the whole collection.

Other than that, we would like to hear more of the story behind this find.

Yes he had passed away and I was able to keep a lot of the stuff in his house this is just one of the things I thought would be valuable and I'm not sure if he removed it from a slab or if he was just researching but I'm going to take it to a dealer near by tomorrow

Don't let the dealer swindle you out of it. You might be surprised at how they may convince you to sell to them...and to sell it cheap. Do your homework.

I would be suspicious of the PGC number being separate from the coin itself, especially sine the auction date given for the coin is 2012. Do you think your grandfather would have paid that kind of money for a coin in 2012? I would advise sending it in for grading. It will cost some money, but it will also go a long way toward helping you sell it, and will keep people from being able to downplay the condition and haggle you into a low price.
