Found a cannonball today!

Asked permission to hunt a new piece of property today directly adjacent to the site I have been hitting for the last several weeks. Thankfully the owner had a son who graduated high school with me so he let me on. I immediately went to the side next to my old site and began digging a musket ball here and there. Next to a overturned tree I got a blast and thought I had a can. After digging down a foot with the signal even louder I knew I had no can. I finally hit iron at a little over 2 feet and out rolled my first cannonball of the year! I havn't found a cannonball in several years. It looks like a rev war six pound solid shot. Now I'll have to find someone who can help me electrolize this since I no longer have Sam White to help me. I did real good finding yet another cut 2 reale and can you believe another beautiful coat 41! This has been my year for buttons from the Rev War. Got what looks like a high dome pewter button (which might be my first American Rev War button of the year) and another one piece button which is brass and low convex but has a regular loop shank. I ended up with 12 musketballs and some miscellaneous brass. One piece is very interesting.......almost looks like some sort of hat badge but I'll have to clean it up to be sure. The best thing is I still have alot of property I didn't cover so I'll be going back. Hope everyone gets their coil over something good this weekend. HH Devonrex

Looks like you're at it again John. Obviously your new site is a continuation of the last one, which is definitely good news for you. Please post everything after you've gotten it all cleaned as I' curious as to what some of thos other items might be. By the way, I do a lot of electrolysis work so I'd be glad to help you out if you're interested. Just let me know. Congrats again on some stellar finds!
