I can't help with the id but those are FANTASTIC pics! What kind of camera, f-stop, etc. It does close-up very well. TTC
 

Its a G.A.R. button and stands for "Grand Army of the Republic," a Veterans Organization for Yankee Soldiers. It dates to around the mid to late 1860s to 1880s based on the backmark :icon_thumleft: :wink:

The Scovill backmark with Co that has the small o underlined is 1879-1890 according to Tice. Plate B-7 #2.
