Found a 50's Pocket Spill Today!
Hello everyone,
I guess the string of good luck is continuing with me today. I decided to give the "silver mine" park a little break, and head over with my md'ing buddy to a different park we've been working along with a few others over the past months. I had back to back 7 silver days at this park, but got the feeling that there wouldn't be too much left...maybe a wheat, maybe a silver. Was I surprised to dig a plug today and see a pocket spill from the 50's. I'm sure all of my buddies, including myself have been over this piece of turf before....the only thing I can think of why it was passed over was the large transformer/electrical box that was near the area was causing our detectors to go crazy. I tried as best as I could to quiet my machine by doing a noise cancel and running just a little less sensitivity. Whatever I did worked, and I was rewarded with a silver Washington, 2 silver rosies, 1 war nickel, and 3 wheaties in one hole. All the coins were fused together...I had to pry them apart...you can see that the war nickel was resting right on top of the quarter and that wheat pennies were laying on top of the rosies.....man, that was exciting and totally unexpected....I called my buddy over and we were both giving each other high fives. The two shiny rosies were found in the same general area as the coin spill. I've found back to back old coin spills from two different parks in as many days.
So a six silver day in just a few hours hunting....I'm not complaining.....darn, there should have been a half in that hole also...
Thanks for looking. Hope everyone can find an old coin spill. Just keep plugging your old, hunted sites. You never know what is still left there.
For those that have found old pocket spills, what was your best spill find? I'd sure like to know.
