Found a 1959 Wheatie today, should I turn it over to the state ????

Get your attention ? Is this what our country is coming to ? I live 1800 miles from Florida, and at this time what's going on in Florida doesn't really effect me (yet) they are about to enact a new law that is quite a joke. Who is greasing the palms of the political parties involved ? I taught my grandson at the age of 5, "See a penny pick it up & all day you'll have good luck", I guess in the near future he'll have to check the date and hopefully it's not earlier than 1961. Yeah I know I sound ridiculous here, but where will it end ? I do agree that historical sites, Native American sites and treasure leased areas should be banned, but to walk the beautiful sands of the Florida beaches, whether a resident or a tourist and not be able to swing a detector ! Detector shops may as well close their doors. I hope that politicians wife loses here 3KT diamond ring on a Florida beach (below the high water mark), and is not able to hire one of those professional recovery companies to come down and find it. Well I'm done ranting now, and I wish the best of luck to all those effected IF this is put to law. God Bless America, just don't detect here.
P.S. Tomorrow I'm going to my local historical society to turn in my wheatie!

you all should know that just people stupid people can make stupid laws doesn't mean they are legal. I'm going to start saying all I found is trash, and I'm doing my part to make under America clean. I just keep finding trash.

hopefully the people making these awful laws won't remove jury trials so people on these juries can nullify these ridiculous and pathetic laws... jury nullification should become a popular thing again, after all it is the real reason for mandatory minimum sentences- if no one would ever bothered convicting a small time user of drugs for possession how fast would people in power stop wasting money and time convicting the small fish? ( yeah I know the reality is federal prisons are big business, charging per person is the reason they won't stop- hence the mandatory sentences).

just like this new worthless law- it's about making money on the peeons. so what if you dug up a pre 60s dime your going to get a citation? I hope a ton of people get together and let the people making these laws know - this one is just dumb.

If I find a wheatie on the floor in Walmart are they going to cordon off the isle and call a SWAT team if I pick it up?
I believe it can come to that. Why don't they spend more money on the poachers here in FL that cut the feet off of the black bears and sell them, or
who capture our threatened gopher tortoises for illegal pet trade. Heck, no, pick on the guy who dug up a penny from 1959!
