Found a 1950's Boy Scout Pocket Knife Today.

Went to one of my old spots today. It's a 1950's baseball field that I've hunted to death. But I always find something there after it rains, so I gave it another shot. I came up with 23 clad coins and a really neat Boy Scout pocket knife.

The knife was made by the Imperial Knife Company from Providence, RI. It was only made from 1958 to 1962, so it's at least 53 years old.

The blades are very rusty, but the plastic handles are in excellent shape. I cleaned it up a little bit, but I'm not going to mess with it too much. I'm happy with the way it looks now.

Here's a few pics:

Congrats on that neat find. That will display nicely and who knows, in the winter months you may take some time to get it functioning.

Great find Tim. Maybe an oil soak for awhile will loosen the blades up!

I was thinking about soaking it in mineral oil for a few hours, but the blades seem to be fused together. I don't think there's much hope for it, but it might be worth a shot.

That's a cool knife, I found a knife a few months ago that looks something like that and it was made by Imperial also, I'll have to double check to see if there are any Boy Scout marks.

Maybe a small shot of liquid wrench?

Still have mine. Sold my Cub Scout knife, but kept this one. Both bought at the Boy Scout section of Sears and Roebuck in 1956 and 1958. Lots of collectors out there. Nice find. Work on those blades...

Very good idea. I might be able to get them apart if I can get something to soak into the rust fusing the blades together. Then I could slide a razor blade in between the blades and possibly loosen them up. I'll give it a shot on Saturday and let you know if I make any progress.

I love finding that's old BSA stuff some of it is worth a nice chunk of change!
