Hit two places on Monday. First was a park and long story short it was hit by the slob element before I got there. One look and its easy to tell why some places ban the hobby. Things were slow there so later in the day I hit a school that had a peastone playground. Also slow but I hit 32 coins and this half ring. I have the same ring (marked) in my silver jar. This ring has no markings but I did the acid test with my test kit and it hit positive as sterling silver. I did 1/2 of a Yee - Ha Thanks for looking.

Good going - a 1/2 of a treasure is a lot better then no treasure.

You mentioned a slob was there before you. I was curious, did you see open holes with shovel marks or trash on top of the ground? One of the reasons I ask is that sometimes we detectorists get blamed for the diggings of night critters like skunks or daytime critters like ground hogs. I remember reading an article where they were blaming a man detecting for destroying the landscape when it turn out to be a critter doing night diggings looking for grubs. A slow ground mole does a lot more damage than a fast detectorist.

It is too bad that there are idiots out there that have no clue that they should fill their holes back in. I suspect that these are the same ones that throw their trash out the car window and just do not give a hoot about property that does not belong to them.

Happy Hunting,

Hey, a ring is a ring is a ring!!!! Great find

It's nice to see that I'm not the only one who digs broken rings. Found two rings last weekend, and both were bent up pretty badly. Well, as stated above, a ring is a ring even broken :D

Gallienus , Hey man i just gotta know , which half , the yee or the ha ? congrats ! Gregory, Santa Fe.

Thanks for the Question. What ticked me off was that in a well traveled area they came across a penny hunt area and there is a spot about 3 to 4 feet in diameter that is totally brown dead fluffy sod pieces surrounded by nice green grass. Now I like to find a penny hunt area as much as the other guy, but one has to realize that for the gain of a pocket full of pennies they totally destroyed a nice yard in the middle of an area that the public is always in. I can just see the authorities banning the hobby in the park because of this incidents like this
