Any help would be fantastic.

It's fairly thin, a two little tabs on the back as if it attached to something and tiny bit of gilt on the bottom left of the anchor.

Site had an old home early 1900's until 1940's or so and quite a bit of civil war activity ...not that this item necessarily has anything to do with either circumstance.

Possibly a US Navy Midshipman's hat badge. Here's one, yours is a bit different, possibly from another era.

Thank you, I was leaning in that direction also but did not want to suggest it so I could see what others think. Maybe attached to a Hat or maybe a bag of some sort..
That was my thought anyway.
