Fossil?

Hello, everyone. Found this rock on a beach of Lake Erie. It looks like some kind of raised impression on one side. The other side is smooth. There are also specks of shiny crystals throughout. Thought it was a piece of tile at first, but the impression looks kind of coral-like around the edges. Any clue on the type of rock or impression?

with the raised/rolled edge, it looks like a piece of pottery to me, edges rounded from water action over many many years
