I found on my property a couple of odd rocks and am very curious about them. I am in central California just north of Santa Barbara. The first is something fossilized, looks to be bone. It has been suggested that it might be whale bone since I have found sea fossils in shale near where I found it. The second is an odd find, there is almost no sign of crystal type rocks on my property and I found this in an area where we had pulled up 80 year old fence posts in a clay rich area. They are both very heavy and dense feeling.

Thanks for the help!

Bump... if anyone could let me know where in the santa Barbara area I could get this checked out that would work too, I have had these for months and no one I have shown them to can give me a definitive answer

Very interesting specimens. I can't make an definitive conclusion but I think you should have someone look them over so you know. Maybe this group could be helpful:

Could be fossil. As BB suggests you'd be best to show them to someone with knowledge of the fossils in your area. Its an interesting formation however.
