Forts, Camps & Batteries Books
I started writing these books back in the 1990's and have only heard from two TH'ers who read them. One corrected me on a site in Georgia as the information was wrong and the other had found a virgin Confederate encampment in the hills of Tennessee and wouldn't go home as he was afraid somebody else might find it,
. Always wondered if anyone else had any success in locating some of the forts mentioned.
I'm rewriting the Pennsylvania book as new material I found will fill in a lot of the blank fort sites.
Another fort book is in the planning stages: Forts of Hamersly Army Register will cover several states combined. I was fortunate to be able to buy this rare book as the only known copies are in the Orlando Public Library in a nitrogen filled display and the National Archives and Library of Congress.
I've had some TH'ers think I'd visited these fort sites but I've been to a few Florida sites but all the others were visited through the eyes of the soldiers who lived, fought and died at them. I read of their accounts in dozens of books and poring over National Archives microfilm to find these sites and offer them to you, the Relic Hunter. I always hoped it brought some kind of success and joy to a Relic Hunter's day.
If you've got a fort that you are looking for and can't find it, drop me a line and I'll check my Microfilm library and Hamersly's book.
