Hi I am Slytlytilted,I dont know if this is where i'm supposed to post this so if not I apologize.I have been researching off an on,the Declaration of Independance as signed be the Fair Play Men of Fort Horn in 1776.I have read the stories of how these colonists signed a document an buried it in a chest on the grounds of Fort Horn.I have personally met with a descendent of one of the fair play men an have listened to her story. She told me that the chest was covered in pitch before it was buried. What i would like to know is has anyone ever found this treasure? an if not would anyone like to help me locate it? i have information such as the actual longitude an latitude of the fort that i have researched through archive material.
I had heard or read somewhere that the walls or what was left of the fort was visible until about the 1930's an that the P&E raliroad actually had to knock down or remove part of the walls of the fort.i have been to the supposed location of the fort (Historical marker) an filmed the area. Also according to Meginnes. Families lived near the fort and across the susquehanna from the Fort which is now a farmfield alot of those families never returned to their homes after the Great Runaway an this field could be a good source of colonial artifacts if we could get permission from the farmer or landowner after the harvest season. Anyone with additional information would be greatly appreciated or anyone willing to help me locate this valuable document would be appreciated as well, thank you!!
