Forgot to Introduce Myself!

Hello fellow hunters! I posted the "Lowdown on Prizm" thread yesterday. And then realized today that I had forgotten to even introduce myself to the forums! I recently just moved to OR and decided to pull my prizm II out of the closet (where it was gathering dust for a few years) and get back into the Hobby (which I never really even started). Its safe to say I've been hit my the treasure bug! Over the past few days I've been hounding the local libraries and researching some sites. I'm officially kicking starting my adventure this Monday when I'm going to go hit up some sites (With a buddy I just dragged into the Hobby... Actually he more like jumped into it). I'm determined to discover everything there is to know about my detector (Knowledge is power) and the hobby itself. <-- That's where you guys come in!

Welcome aboard! :hello:

Thanks for the welcome! Much appreciated. I just stumbled in from my first metal detecting adventure... with a total of nothing (of value)! A complete skunk. I hit an old church from around the 1860's and a school from the early 1900's. I'm hardly frustrated that I did not find anything, as I'm sure that's my fault, but I am concerned about my detector. On literally every swing, my detector went off with a half dollar ID, if I attempted to pinpoint then the detector would go off everywhere except where my ID hits were going off. Extremely frustrating! I messed with the sensitivity which decrease the amount of hits slightly, but my detector was still going off every swing with it set on one. Is it possible that the ground was just filled EVERYWHERE with nails (which possibly ring as half dollars?)
On a side note, if I place my coil head on the ground (anywhere) and then lift it straight up, it lets off a wail that slowly fades away.
Thanks in advance for all help!
Jesse
