looks like a portuguese (indian-- colony type)-- 1/8th rupee (rupia) coin ---1881 to me -- oddly it was made by the british govt for the portugese colonies use after the great indain uprising in 1878 the british took over direct control of india until it became independant in 1946---as far as value I'd e bay it now you know what it is --

Sounds about right Ivan.. Thanks. Any idea of value? I don't expect its very much.

Luis I was the 32nd King of Portugal and Algarves between 1861 and 1889.
Louis was mostly a man of the sciences, with a passion for oceanography. He invested great amounts of his fortune in funding research boats to collect specimens in the oceans of the world. He was responsible for the establishment of one of the World's first Aquariums, Aquário Vasco da Gama in Lisbon, which is still open to the public.
